Finishing a Ph.D
In a couple of months I plan walk across the stage again for the third time in 10 years. This may seem like a remarkable feat for a 28 year old, but the amazing thing is that I did it without going into debt.... A little curious are we? As an undergaduate I received tuition waivers and scholarships at Oklahoma State University. My parents covered the rest. In graduate school I received an assistantship, which made it seem like they were paying me to get my degree. I also received a similar assistantship when I started my doctorate at the University of Arkansas. I continued to received scholarships along the way and my parents paid for any major expenses that came up. I would not be where I am today without a little sacrifice. Some may say that I lived a simple life, but it definately hasn't been a boring one. Though I still drive the same same truck I had before starting college, I chose to spend my money in a different way. Last semester I received a grant to do study abroad (a joint E.U./U.S. grant on biorenewable energy). If you ever get a chance to do study abroad don't pass at the chance to learn more about yourself and other cultures. While abroad I visted 12 countries, met some amazing friends, and have more than enough stories to tell in lifetime. The crazy thing is the more I learn the less I really know.... *Follow up*...Short of putting my credit report and dropping my name on here..I hope a pictures will serve as proof enough.
